OFFENSE

Cardinals head coach Blake Lamle returns seven starters to the offense this season including his quarterback Eli Gonzales (5-9, 165, Sr.). Gonzales is dangerous with the ball thanks to his vision and speed. He can also get the ball downfield to his tight end and receiver, Isaiah Lyons (6-1, 180, Sr.) and Talon Darling (6-1, 175, Sr.). Both are capable of big plays and can block downfield. Peyton Smith (6-2, 275, Sr.) and Bryer Curl (5-8, 265, So.) anchor the offensive line. Smith will start at center with Curl playing guard. Look for the Cardinals to play a lot of shotgun and give Gonzales an opportunity to see the field.

DEFENSE

Gonzales will contribute on defense as well playing one of the corner positions. Also look for Lyons to see time at defensive end. Talon Duncan (5-10, 160, Jr.) and Lyam Klyanhanns (5-10, 175, So.) are two linebackers the Chiefs need in a big way this season. Thaddeus Malchoff (6-2, 220, So.) and Austin Kallblinger (6-2, 180, So.) will bookend the defensive line in the 3-2. Younger brother to Eli, Ethan Gonzales (Fr.) will likely see time at linebacker and play some running back on offense.
