Pond Creek-Hunter’s Jackson Jones Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Stevens, Ford

Creating an identity for yourself as you enter high school can be extremely difficult for some people. But for Pond Creek-Hunter sophomore Jackson Jones he found his identity pretty quickly and it was one thing and that is in sports.

The sophomore from Pond-Creek-Hunter is a two-sport star. You will find him in the gymnasium in the winter as a guard for the basketball team but it will be on the links, in the spring as a member of the golf team. Jones has been knee deep in these sports for a majority of his time as a child. “I started playing golf when I was in the 7th grade. I’ve played basketball forever.”

It has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and support to get Jones where he is today. “The love of the game is what motivates me.” Jones not only has support coming from his friends and family but there is a very special faculty member who will always have a place in his heart. Mrs. Cindy Johndrow is a major element of Jones’ success as a student athlete. “Mrs. Johndrow has a positive impact on me because she will always help me with my school work and will always support me.”

In Jones’ case it has been the lessons learned and the memories that have been made that have molded him into the man he is becoming. One of the keys to success is something that is very cliche among those trying to improve in their respective sport. “ It has taken a lot of extra time to go to the course or the gym to put in some work.” Jones’ most memorable memory of his career is one any golfer would be jealous of. “I had a hole in one at a tournament this season.” Jones is inspired and motivated by professional golfer Scottie Scheffler. “I love consistency and he always plays good golf.

The thing Jones loves most is being able to play sports and represent the town and community he loves. It means a lot to me to be able to represent my community and school. “I have lived here my whole life and I love being here. To God be the Glory.”
