Laverne’s Kamryn Baggs-Track Spotlight- Presented by The Stock Exchange Bank

When Kamryn Baggs graduates this month, she wants to have left her mark at Laverne High School.
“I hope my teammates will remember me as a good role model, supporter and a dedicated teammate,’ Baggs said. “I hope that my teachers will remember me as a responsible, hard worker and that I always strived to be my best. I hope my classmates remember me as an organized and dedicated student.”
Baggs has been playing softball her whole life and has run for Laverne’s cross country and track teams since high school and is involved with FCCLA. Baggs also plays guitar and writes music as a hobby. She has uploaded a few of her original tracks to her YouTube. Baggs played basketball but decided to forego her senior season to avoid injuries and focus on preparing for her collegiate athletic career.
“I’ve committed to run cross country and track at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock,’ Baggs said. “I took some other visits, but none of them really fit. I got along well with the other people on the team and coach [Brock] Hime. I liked the area and everything else too. It was the last visit I took, but it ended up feeling the most right. It is pretty far from home, but everything else was perfect for me. I had prayed to God to give me a feeling or a sign to help me make my decision, and it happened with Little Rock. I’m excited to start the next chapter there!”

Baggs’ relationship with her faith informs all other aspects of her life. Her family makes it to service “about every Sunday” and she has attended her church’s youth group since the sixth grade.
“I was raised in a Christian household, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by friends, teachers, and coaches who share that same belief! Even if my relationship with Christ isn’t always the best, I make time to read my Bible and follow his word as often as I can,” Baggs said.
Baggs plans to pursue a degree within the medical field but has not landed on a specialty. This summer, she will shadow at a hospital to work towards finding that answer.
