Seiling Wildcats 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented By Northwest Technology Center

SEILING WILDCATS

Coach: GARY MANUEL

13-2

OFFENSE

After a 13-win season and runner-up finish to Laverne High School in the finals, the Wildcats and head coach Gary Manuel are hungry for more. The team does have a few holes to fill coming into the 2023 season. “Well, we lost our whole offensive line from last year. So we will be really young up front on the offensive line, probably start all sophomores and maybe one freshman. We will be small but pretty athletic,” said coach Manuel. Quarterback Kaden Manuel (5-10, 205, Sr.) has the athleticism to be a threat in the run and passing games for the Wildcats. A true team leader, Manuel carries a 4.0 GPA and scored a 24 on the ACT. One target he will look for in the passing game is Hudson Hamar (6-2, 170, Sr.). Hamar is a consistent player and a big piece of the puzzle in the RPO, attacking style offense the Wildcats will utilize. Rush Hunt (5-10, 170, So.) is a young, exciting running back with big play potential. Jazin Baker (5-11, 170, So.) will see action at wide receiver where his speed and size will come into play. Jaycub Feuerborn (5-11, 225, So.) is one of the faces you will see on the offensive line as coach Manuel pencils in the starters up front.

DEFENSE

“We want to play fast, physical, and fearless on every snap,” said coach Manuel. Blake Chain (5-10, 170, So.) and Kaden Manuel will lead the way at linebacker. Both players are quick to the ball and have the ability to drop into coverage. Chain was second on the team in tackles last season as a freshman. Hamar and Hunt will start in the secondary giving the team two ball-hawks playing deep. Yovanny Duarte (5-10, 180, Jr.) and Jazin Baker will bookend the defensive line. Both guys are quick off the edge and should help eliminate anything around the corner. “Defensively we will bring back five starters on defense so hoping we don’t have a big drop off on that side ball losing three starters from last year team. With limited numbers this year depth will be an issue at every position,” said coach Manuel. The coaching staff includes Devin Benton, Matt Whetstone, Chase McCurley, and Jonathan Manning.
