Vici’s Harley Lowry – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Town of Vici Nursing Home

Vici High School sophomore Harley Lowry is a talented baseball player. In baseball, Harley plays first base. In his role as a first baseman, Harley is tasked with the responsibility of not only fielding ground balls hit in his vicinity but also for catching throws from other infielders to force a runner out at first base. Harley also often has to scoop one-hop throws from an infielder or pick low throws out of the dirt.

In addition to playing baseball for Vici High School, Harley also participates in skeet shooting.

In regards to what it has taken Harley to be successful, “The task of baseball practice, regardless of whether you want to do it, or not.”

Asked what it means to represent Vici High School as a baseball player, Harley stated, “It means a lot to me to represent my team, and show that I care about my community.”

In terms of a favorite memory in his baseball career, Harley looks back not too far. Harley stated, “It happened recently. I hit a walk-off in the Regional Playoffs.”

For Harley, his biggest role model has had an important impact on him. Harley stated, “My baseball coach is my biggest role model. He has been a father figure to me, and he teaches me a lot about life.”

Most students have a favorite teacher that has made school special. Harley stated, “My favorite teacher is Mrs. Salisbury. She is very sweet and caring, and also helps a lot with just about everything.”

Harley enjoys consuming social media. When asked who on social media Harley enjoys the most, Harley stated, “My favorite person on social media is Mr. Beast. Mr. Beast helps people, and is a great guy in general.”

Besides being involved in sports at Vici High School, Harley also participates in a school club: Future Farmers of America.

After graduating from high school, Harley plans on pursuing his education. Harley stated, “I plan to go to Vocational Tech, and obtain my license for carpentry and plumbing. That, or I hope to get a scholarship for playing baseball.”
