Woodward Boomers Wrestling Preview – Presented by Randy’s Pharmacy

Woodward wrestling will have a new look this season as head coach Jared Weatherhead only returns one state qualifier from last year’s team.

“Woodward is a young team with a lot of talented athletes on the roster,” said coach Weatherhead.

That young talent will need to step up and fill important roles on the roster for Woodward to be competitive during dual season.

Senior Julio Gomez qualified for state last season at 113-pounds and will likely move up in weight this year. Gomez has the talent to return to state and finish his prep career on the podium.

The 2022-23 schedule is packed this season with the Boomers kicking things off against Yukon in their first dual of the season. The Boomers will also attend tournaments in Newkirk, Weatherford, El Reno, and Garden City, Kansas.
