Cherokee’s Elyce Roglin Athlete Spotlight Presented By Northwest Technology Center

When we were younger, we thought about what we wanted to be when we grew up. It could have been a teacher, astronaut, firefighter, police officer, or something else. Elyce Roglin had the dream of working in the medical field when she was younger, and thanks to Northwest Tech, she is working to make that dream a reality.

“I am in the Biomed I class at the Alva campus,” she said. “I wanted to join that class because since I was little I wanted to become a surgeon. I also like to know what goes on in the human body.”

As a junior at Cherokee High School, Raglin first heard about tech when her school counselor talked to Elyce’s class about tech when she was a sophomore. She is glad that she made the decision to attend tech. She says that if someone is considering it, she would definitely recommend it.

“Being a student at Northwest Tech has given me a strong foundation to the pursuit of more advanced medical science,” she said. “If it is part of what you want to do in your career then look into it because it is a great way to get your study started for the future.”

As a student at Cherokee, Elyce is a member of the school’s softball, basketball, cheer, and track teams.

While she enjoys the sports she plays, Roglin says that there are other parts that she enjoys too.

“I love getting to play with some of my best friends,” she said. “There are times when things may get tough. But in those moments, my competitiveness and joy of playing the game keep me motivated to work.”

Throughout her life, both in sports and away from competition, Elyce has had a few people that have made an impact on her life.

“My parents are my biggest role models,” she said. “They support me every step of the way. Also my coach because she has helped me love my sport more than i ever have.”
